Founded in 1952, Blanchet House of Hospitality is a non-profit organization offering free meals, beds and jobs. The existing facility serves approximately 600-800 meals per day. SERA’s design for the new three-story Blanchet House of Hospitality will replace the existing building in Portland’s Old Town/Chinatown district. In addition to a soup kitchen, the building will provide residential rooms with a central shared bathroom, laundry and community room on each floor, with the possibility of adding an additional residential floor in the future.
The building’s design enhances the surrounding neighborhood and provides a positive, supportive space for the people who will use it on a daily basis. |
