The Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC) has retained SERA to prepare Downtown Infill and Streetscape Design Standards for a prototypical downtown block and to apply those standards to a specified block, the arterial streets surrounding it, and the new streets to be developed within.
UPC’s vision is to revitalize the interior of the infill block and develop a model project that addresses affordability and sets new standards for sustainable community planning, site and architectural design.
The proposed infill block is anticipated to be a self-contained community of pedestrian-friendly mixed-use neighborhoods featuring various residential types, a mix of retail/commercial uses, below grade parking, and community facilities including a mosque, a community center, a school, and a variety of public open spaces. |
